TQ Refrigeration was contacted to present a proposal for designing, supplying, and installing a pharmaceutical cold room for a new purpose-built pharmacy within Birmingham City Hospital.

Following site visits and consultations with the NHS Trust and the principal contractor, a comprehensive design was developed. This included CAD drawings, heat load calculations, and equipment selection to meet the client’s guidelines.

The refrigeration design featured two identical systems with a single changeover control panel, providing 100% system backup. The new pharmacy hub, located in the Sheldon Block at City Hospital, serves as a Stores & Distribution hub. This hub is intended to support the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), which opened in 2024.

TQ Refrigeration’s meticulous planning and execution ensured the pharmaceutical cold room met all specifications and was installed efficiently, supporting the critical operations of the new pharmacy hub.
